Managing workspace members
Workspace members are people from your organisation who can see the workspace's boards. Workspace roles set what they can do at that scope — they compose with board roles and organisation roles.
Open the members panel
From the workspace, click the Members icon in the sidebar (or ⋯ → Members). The panel lists everyone with workspace access, their role, and the date they joined.
Workspace roles
Five roles, scoped to a single workspace:
- Owner — full control. Manage members, settings, delete the workspace. There can be more than one Owner; the workspace creator is the default.
- Admin — manage members, change settings, but cannot delete the workspace.
- Editor — create boards in this workspace, edit any board, invite to boards. Cannot manage workspace members.
- Viewer — see all boards in the workspace but cannot edit, comment, or create.
- Guest — workspace-scoped guest, used when you want someone in your org to have access to one workspace but not the rest of the org's workspaces.
TIP
A teammate's workspace role only applies inside that workspace. Their organisation-wide role (e.g., Org Admin) is unchanged. Org Admins can always see every workspace regardless of workspace-level membership.
Inviting members
In the members panel, type an email and pick a role. If the email belongs to someone in your organisation, they're added immediately. If it belongs to someone outside your organisation, the system uses the guest path instead — workspace memberships are for org members only.
Changing a role
Click the role badge next to anyone's name. The role list opens; pick the new role. Changes apply immediately.
Removing a member
From the ⋯ menu next to anyone's name, choose Remove from workspace. They lose access immediately. Removal is reversible — you can add them back later and they pick up where they left off.
How workspace and board roles compose
Workspace roles are the floor for what someone can do; board roles can elevate.
- Workspace Viewer + board Editor → can edit that specific board, view-only on the rest.
- Workspace Editor + board Viewer → view-only on that specific board, edit the rest.
- Workspace Admin + board Owner → owner on that board, admin on every other board in the workspace.
The most permissive of the two applies on any given board.
